Safe Sleep and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Awareness Month is a time to raise awareness about how to reduce the risk of SIDS and other sleep-related infant deaths.

Missouri PQC has curated the following resources to help promote safe sleep:

The ABCDs of Safe Sleep:

  • A is for Alone - babies should sleep alone in their crib or bassinet, without any extra items like blankets, stuffed animals or bumpers

  • B is for Back - always place babies on their back for every sleep, including naps

  • C is for Crib - ensure that babies sleep on a flat, firm surface like a crib, bassinet, or pack 'n play

  • D is for Don't Smoke - avoid any exposure to smoke, both before and after birth

More information on the ABCDs of safe sleep can be found here.

Additional safe sleep guidance can be found here.
