New Alcohol Use Disorder ECHO from the Weitzman Institute

The Weitzman Institute's ECHO on Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is a free, virtual learning community for primary care providers. Beginning on March 5, 2025, this ECHO will meet on the first and third Wednesday of every month from 11 am - 12 pm CST.


This ECHO will provide guidance on current best practices for preventing, screening, and treating AUD, which is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality across the United States. It is open to primary care medical and behavior health providers working with patient in community health centers and other settings caring for underserved populations.


Each session will include:

  • An expert presentation on a high-value topic, such as medical and non-medical treatment options, developing capacity to implement screenings and treatment in short office visits, motivational interviewing, and patient education techniques.

  • Tailored, responsive feedback while discussing real patient cases submitted by peers in order to create actionable continuing education driven to improve patient care.

  • April 16, 2025 - Rehabilitation: A Patient's Journey

  • May 7, 2025 - Philosophy of Harm Reduction

  • May 21, 2025 - Medical Treatment Options for AUD

  • June 4, 2025 - Sequelae of AUD: Medical 

  • June 18, 2025 - Sequelae of AUD: Mental

  • July 2, 2025 - Withdrawal

  • July 16, 2025 - Relapse Prevention/Management

  • August 6, 2025 - Patient Engagement Technologies

  • August 20, 2025 - Peer Recovery

  • September 3, 2025 - Alcohol Use and Trauma

  • September 17, 2025 - Special Populations


CME and CE credits are available. Seats are limited and are anticipated to fill quickly.
