A new ECHO for the diagnosis and management of memory and thinking disorders is coming soon to the Show-Me ECHO lineup.

Show-Me ECHOs (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) through the Missouri Telehealth Network and University of Missouri uses videoconferencing to connect interdisciplinary teams of subject matter experts with professionals across the state for collaboration and case-based learning.

The Dementia ECHO seeks to empower and support health professionals to develop competency in identifying and optimizing caring for people affected by memory and thinking problems. A team of experts in dementia, geriatrics, palliative care, neurology, psychiatric pharmacology, nursing, social work, and public health will lead sessions every month.

Discussions will include topics such as:

  • The role of primary care in initial evaluation of cognitive impairment

  • Developing confidence in knowing how and when to screen for memory and thinking problems

  • Recognizing how cognitive impairment increases health care risks

  • Providing tools to those caring for persons dealing with cognitive impairment

  • Implementing a comprehensive framework for helping people with Alzheimer disease and related dementias

  • Optimizing access to and dissemination of resources available to patients and their care partners

All sessions are free to participants. CEUs are available for professionals.
